Search for ‘Little Big Star’ to be launched
Early next year, the Marianas High School chapter of the National Honor Society will host the first CNMI’s Little Big Star Talent Competition sponsored by Tan Holdings Corp. This show will reach out to children ages 12 and below, giving them a chance to showcase their diverse talents, to be recognized, to entertain their families and the community, and to have a day of quality fun.
This big event will be launched on March 5, 2005 and parents with children who meet the age requirements are encouraged to participate. Numerous prizes will be given out ranging from $100 to $1,000, along with trophies, sashes, certificates and the title of “CNMI’s Little Big Star.”
All competitors will have to audition before finalists are selected; auditions will be held at Marianas High School and the audition dates are Jan. 22, 23, and 29.
Three age group categories—4 and under, 5-8, and9-12—will showcase their talents in dancing, acting, singing, and other areas.
Applications for this event will be available at the following locations: Payless Shoe Source (San Jose), Dolphins Wholesale, Price Costco, XO Market, Power 99, and Marianas High School.
“The funds we raise in this endeavor will support a charitable organization and will be used to achieve another of our objectives for this year: a student exchange visit. Fifty percent of all funds we raise, post-expenses, will be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation. The remaining post-expenses funds will be used to support NHS’s planned exchange visit to Australia. Thus, your support will enable us to stage a significant event for the young people of the CNMI, to raise money for a charitable organization, and to support the growth and development of future CNMI leaders from the National Honor Society,” said Semona Igama, a member of the National Honor Society.
Interested parents are encouraged to pick up an application for their children before the due date, which is on Jan. 15, 2005. All applications must be turned in at the Marianas High School main office, which is open from 8am to 4pm.
