Toy drive garners cascade of donations
The Division of Youth Services office on Capitol Hill was awash with colorfully wrapped Christmas presents Tuesday morning, attesting to the success of the agency’s Christmas Toy Drive that collected more than a hundred toys for children of families who were greatly affected by supertyphoon Chaba in August.
Gifts donated included various toys for children of all ages, clothes, and school supplies. The gifts were distributed starting yesterday.
The division honored its donors Tuesday, with Vivian Sablan, volunteer program coordinator, and Marlyn Igitol, DYS acting director, handing out certificates to those who made the month-and-a-half toy drive such a success.
Hyatt Regency Saipan Hotel and Duty Free Galleria were the biggest contributors, with Hyatt donating a total of 85 boxes while DFS giving a total of 62 boxes.
Other donors included Pacific Islands Club, Island Locator, Emi Peter-Pelican and Owen Rumley, Kan Pacific Saipan Ltd., Marianas Visitors Authority, Aging Office, Sports and Recreations, Herman’s Bakery, Hard Rock Café, Ladies Lunch Group, Refalawasch Golf Association, Energy Division, Whispering Palms School, ChaCha Oceanview STUCO, Ambyth Shipping, Coca Cola and Bank of Guam.
