As they have the last 12 years, the Saipan Garment Manufacturers Association made a Christmas-time donation to Saipan’s Karidat Social Services for their community efforts and work in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

SGMA chair James C. Lin presented Karidat executive director Angie Guerrero with a check for $2,000, and then spoke to the assembled SGMA general membership about how very much he wished this tradition could continue as long as the industry remains viable in Saipan.

Lin explained that, as long as the factories are operating on Saipan, they should, and will, make this annual contribution to the community-based social service organization.

As Lin stated, “It is the industry’s privilege and duty to be a part of the social responsibility that Karidat Social Services exemplifies.”

SGMA made the presentation at their annual association Christmas gathering and luncheon on Dec. 17 at AJ’s Restaurant. More than 50 members and guests enjoyed luncheon, jokes and a lively raffle conducted by SGMA executive director Richard A. Pierce, disguised as Santa Claus.

SGMA also conducted its annual election of officers and directors. Installed as directors were James C. Lin from United International Corp., Eloy Inos from Concorde Garment Manufacturing, Dal-Eon Chung from Neo Fashion Inc., H.K. Min from Sako Corp., Kidong Choi from RIFU Corp., Tony Taisacan from Michigan Inc. and William Fong from US CNMI Corp.

James Lin was re-installed as the chair of the board of directors.
