Seventeen-year-old Beverly G. Tamondong, a senior student at the Marianas High School, has been chosen as one of those who will be featured in the 38th edition of Who’s Who Among American High School Students. The publication recognizes high school students’ efforts and academic achievement.

Tamondong now belongs to the 5 percent of the entire CNMI high school population who were selected for this publication. With this recognition, her achievements will be sent to universities and colleges of her choice.

According to the National Academic Affairs chair Parke Davis, Tamondong’s accomplishments are a tribute to her and her family’s values, dedication and commitment.

This petite girl is running for honors in June. She now ranks in the top 10 in her high school. Tamondong likes to read books and Science is her favorite subject. She is currently a member of the National Forensic League and the National Honor Society in her school. Though she listens to classical music and Christian artists, She considers herself a typical teenage girl.

Tamondong recently got an invitation from the U.S. Army in Guam who introduced her to the exciting world of the military. She plans to pursue this after high school. She will be flying to the U.S. mainland for training next year. She will be spending a total of six months in South Carolina and Virginia, then she will return to Saipan to pursue a nursing degree prior to her service in the Army.

Born to Filipino parents, Beverly values her family very much. She has a 7-year-old brother, Richard.

Who’s Who has been the most respected student recognition publication and award program in the entire nation. The publication’s selection undergoes stringent process with standards that have been cited by education, parent and teachers associations at the state and national levels. (Marconi Calindas)
