About 50 join JSTA beach cleanup
The Japan Saipan Travel Association had their yearend beach cleanup on Dec. 11 at Micro Beach between the 13 Fishermen Memorial and Puerto Rico pathway.
Approximately 50 members from JSTA, the Hotel Association of Northern Marianas, the Northern Marianas Operations Diving Association, Japanese Society and MVA participated in the cleanup.
Lunch hosted by JSTA followed after the event.
“It is very important that we maintain beautiful beaches for tourists as we are expecting a lot of tourists for Christmas and New Year’s vacation period and we hope that they will enjoy our beaches and have a memorable trip,” said JSTA president Osawa.
In July this year, a total 100 participants joined JSTA in cleaning up the beach pathway from Garapan to Susupe.
“The CNMI is fortunate to have associations such as JSTA that is very involved and a strong advocate about keeping our island beautiful. We need these types of community effort to send a positive message out to the community. These are our islands, our home; let’s keep it beautiful not only for our visitors, but for future generations as well” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Vicky Benavente.
