The Northern Marianas College held a retirement ceremony on Dec. 10 to honor eight of its employees who are retiring after several years of service, dedication and hard work to NMC’s students, faculty, and staff.

The retirees are:

* Kohne K. Ramon – Career Counselor – Student Development. Years of service: 10 years;

* James M. Vincent – Instructor, Social Sciences – Social Science & Fine Arts Department, 8 years

* Antonio N. Satur – Acting Department Chair, for HPEA, 9 years and 2 months;

* Angelyn C. Sills – Instructor, Sciences – Science, Math & Technology Department, 2 years and 11 months;

* Fe Y. Calixterio – Director of Adult Basic Education – Adult Basic Education Department, 15 years

* Mary K. Asper – Instructor, Education – School of Education, 9 years and 3 months; and

* Reginald M. Newport – Instructor, Education – Languages Department, over 18 years and 6 months.

President Tony V. Deleon Guerrero said that, through teaching, mentoring, coaching, counseling and training, these six employees “have all made significant impacts and positive influences on the lives of our NMC students, and the college as a learning organization.” He also encouraged each retiree to develop new dreams to pursue in their new retirement lives.

Each retiree gave a small speech and one included sharing earlier days as far back as the 80’s when NMC was just starting out. They shared memories of the old times and how it has become the college of today.
