The Department of Public Safety on Rota will be conducting three sobriety checkpoints at different sites on Dec. 21-22.

The first setup will be on Dec. 21, at the San Francisco Highway, between Former Donny’s shop and going south to Teteto beach. It will be operational at approximately 7pm for 75 minutes and terminated at approximately 8:15pm.

That same day, a second checkpoint will be set up at San Francisco Highway, Southern, from northern end of Rota Hotel to the southern end of Veterans Memorial Park. It will be operational at approximately 9:15pm and will be terminated at approximately 10:30am.

The third will be on Dec. 22 and will be set up at San Francisco Highway, Tatahog from the Northern Marianas College north to Sonton. It will be operational at approximately 11:30pm for 75 minutes and will be terminated at approximately 12:45am of Dec. 23.

The checkpoints will be terminated if it begins to rain.

The vehicle stopped at the sobriety checkpoints will be determined based on traffic volume, i.e., one in every three vehicles, one in every five vehicles, and one in every 10 vehicles shall be stopped.

It will be the on-scene supervisor’s responsibility to implement changes in the systematic sequence of vehicles stopped if the traffic pattern necessitates a change.

The location of personnel briefing will be conducted at Rota DPS on Dec. 21 at 5pm. The source of illumination for these operations will be streetlights and portable floodlights.
