The NMI Crime Stoppers is appealing to the public anew for information relating to a stabbing incident and a possible homicide.

The homicide case was reported at about 2:49am on June 17, 2001, with the caller informing authorities that a person was seen lying on the ground near the Hard Rock Café along Beach Road Garapan.

At the scene, responding Traffic Section officers first considered a possible auto-pedestrian incident but further investigation led them to believe that the female victim, Ye Xiu Zhang, either fell out or was thrown out of a moving vehicle heading north in front of the café.

The victim was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center where she lapsed into a coma due to serious head injuries. She died on July 2, 2001 as a result of her injuries.

“An autopsy revealed that Ms. Zhang died from a blunt trauma to her head, which led probers to confirm that this is a homicide case,” Crime Stoppers said.

Authorities said Zhang was last seen wearing a striped and checkered blouse with colors white, purple, and turquoise. She had on gray shorts and dirty white and yellow high-heeled sandals.

“Crime Stoppers believe that someone may have seen Ms. Zhang or the vehicle earlier in the evening on the roadway from Diane’s Poker out to Beach Road by Big Dipper heading north,” Crime Stoppers said.

The stabbing incident occurred in Kagman III and was reported on March 14, 2003. A male caller had informed police he was with a 17-year-old male in need of medical assistance due to stab wounds in the chest and arms.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, a student of Cha-Cha Junior High School, was walking home from school, using a route through the boonies.

The victim came across three males who were drinking alcoholic beverages. One of the three approached the victim from behind and pushed him forward. Another member of the group, who had a knife in hand, stood in front of the victim and stabbed him in the chest. He continued to stab the victim, who had fallen to the ground. Still, the victim managed to fight off the suspects and flee to a nearby residence.

The incident took place between 3pm and 4pm.
