After trailing for the better part of four and a half innings, the Saipancell/NMC Proa scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth and held on to beat the Islanders in their final contest of the season, 15-13, at the Oleai Sports Complex Tuesday.

It was a tale of two Tonys for the top team, as Tony Luzama pitched the first three innings for Proa before being relieved by ace Tony Satur in the top of the fourth. Luzama left Satur in a 10-3 hole, but the offense rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the fourth and nine in the fifth to give Big Tony the win.

Satur struck out four batters in the final four innings, and allowed three runs in the seventh inning before putting an end to the Islanders rally.

Proa shortstop Jester Garcia went 4-for-5 at the plate with four singles and two runs batted in, while teammate Gus Peterson went 3-for-4 with three ribbies and was a single away from hitting for the cycle.

With the win, the pummeling powers of Proa finished up the season with a record of 14-1 atop the Island Wide Fast Pitch Softball League, and now await the rest of the teams in the playoffs after the Christmas holiday.

The loss was huge for the Islanders (3-8), as only four teams will make the transition to the post season. Currently they have four games remaining, and are just a half-game ahead of Kagman 1-2-3 for the final spot.

The D-9ers (7-3) and the Verizon Sluggers (5-6) got the Tuesday night doubleheader started off with a bang, as the boys from the district were on the winning end of a 20-6 blowout that ended early via the 10-run mercy rule.

One run separated the teams after the first inning, but the D-9ers scored 10 runs off of nine hits in the top of the second to disconnect the Sluggers early in the contest. Jerome Delos Santos went 4-for-6 at the plate for the D-9ers, with a homerun and a pair of lead off triples, while B.J. Sablan went 4-for-4 with a single, a double, two triples, four runs batted in and two scores.

Heavy-hitting third baseman Mel Sakisat moved over to shortstop for the D-9ers and moved around the bases with two homers, including an inside the parker in his first at bat of the game.
