Crime Stoppers need tips on homicide cases
The NMI Crime Stoppers continues to seek tips relating to two separate homicide incidents now classified as “cold cases.”
The most recent incident of the two was reported to authorities at about 6:52am on Aug. 9, 2001. The call reported a possible dead person found at the southernmost tip of the Obyan beach area.
Responding officers managed to locate the body of the female individual, later identified as Ai Fang Han. Further investigation also revealed that the victim suffered upper body trauma or injuries, resulting in the case being treated as homicide.
Han arrived on Saipan in 1997 and was employed as a sewer for Concorde Garment Factory. She voluntarily left her employer in November 2000 and since then, worked in restaurants and karaoke parlors.
Crime Stoppers indicated that Han was last seen on Wednesday, Aug. 8, shortly after 9pm in the Rainbow store located along Middle Road Garapan across Hollywood Video. She was last seen wearing long denim jeans and a spaghetti strap top with blue flannel outer clothing.
Han was about 5’1” in height, and weighed about 115 lbs. with light complexion and straight black hair.
Another homicide case was reported on Oct. 7, 1996 at about 12:10am.
According to Crime Stoppers, the DPS received a call reporting that a dead person was found lying on the ground near the road behind the Chalan Kanoa cemetery, and across from the GZL Hardware and the Elephant Corp. barracks.
Officers dispatched to the scene found the lifeless body of a male individual later identified as Feng Zhu Zheng.
Results from autopsy revealed that Zheng died due to a blunt trauma to the head.
Investigation showed that Zhen was last seen leaving his apartment at the Elephant Corp. barracks at about 10:36pm on Oct. 6, 1996.
He was last seen wearing a pair of white long pants, a white shirt with vertical green stripes and brown shoes.
He was found dead about an hour and a half later.
Investigators are interested in talking to any motorists or pedestrians using the roadway from the former Angel Market in Susupe south to the Chalan Kanoa Youth Center or Social Hall between the hours of 8pm Oct. 6, 1996 to 12am Oct. 7, 1996.
