DPS conducts seatbelt, child restraint checkpoints today

The Department of Public Safety Traffic Section said that it will be conducting child occupant protection and child restraint checkpoints today, Dec. 8.

The first setup will be conducted on the Monsignor Martinez Road by the JTV Building beginning at 7:30am and concluding at 8:45am. The second checkpoint will be on Beach Road by the Minachom Atdao Pavilion on Susupe from 4:30pm to 5:45pm.

Another set would be conducted on Dec. 22, with the first setup on Beach Road San Jose by Roshi’s Variety Store from 7am to 8:15am, and the second on the Koblerville main road by the DPS Fire Station from 4pm to 5:15pm.

DPS said that more sobriety checkpoints would also be conducted throughout this holiday season to deter drunk drivers and ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

A set of DUI sobriety checkpoints will be held on Dec. 11, with the first conducted on the 2W Chalan Pale Arnold Road in Puerto Rico from 7pm to 8:15pm, and the second from 9pm to 10:15pm on Beach Road Chalan Lau Lau by Triple J Motors.

Sobriety checkpoints will also be conducted on Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning.

A checkpoint will be held on Beach Road, Chalan Kanoa by the Bargain House from 8pm to 9:15pm and another on 2W Chalan Pale Arnold Road in Chalan Lau Lau by Verizon from 10:15pm to 11:30pm. Both checkpoints will be conducted on Dec. 24.

Another checkpoint will be held on Beach Road Susupe in front of the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Building from 1:45am to 3am.

DPS also announced that checkpoints will be conducted on New Year’s Eve and early New Year’s morning. The first set up on Dec. 31 will be on 16 Highway Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Road in Chalan Kiya in front of the CUC Waterloo Station from 7:30pm to 8:45pm; the second on Beach Road Chalan Lau Lau by the New BJ Garden Restaurant from 10pm to 11:15pm.

The final set up will be from 1am to 2:15am on the 2W Chalan Pale Arnold Road in Garapan by the Garapan Central Park on Jan. 1.

In addition to the checkpoints, the DPS Traffic Section officers will be performing highway criminal interdiction, aggressive driver interdiction, and laser activities.
