With Santa’s favorite holiday just three weeks away, and the long break in the school schedule even closer, the young cagers of the CNMI have another reason to be excited, as the DCCA announced the upcoming 2004 Christmas Basketball Tournament.

From Monday, Dec. 27 through Wednesday, Dec. 29, teams of hoopsters under the age of 14 will vie for first place in the confines of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium in Oleai.

Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers of the eight-team tournament, and with the number of squads limited, coaches and managers need to submit their rosters and entry fees as soon as possible.

Teams will be limited to a maximum of 15 players, and the deadline to enter the tournament is Friday, Dec. 17. The cost to register a team for the first ever event is $50, and the first eight teams to pay are the first to play. All others will be left to participate by cheering on the action from the stands.

All interested coaches and managers must attend a tournament meeting on Thursday, Dec. 9 in the conference room of the Ada Gym at 11am.

For more information, contact tournament director Jonathan Tenorio by calling 664-2503/8.
