The Refalawasch Golf Association will be hosting its 2004 Club Championship two Saturdays from now on Dec. 18, 2004.

According to the club, the venue for the event has not been decided yet and will be announced on a later date. Nonetheless, check in time is at 9am and tee off time will be an hour later at 10am.

Tournament fee is $100, which includes green fee and a banquet at Hyatt Regency Saipan. The tournament is open to all members and RGA is reminding all monthly Ace winners to show up for the Club Championship.

The winners of the Club Championship gets a one-year free membership from RGA as well as free entry fee for a tournament of his choice. Top 3 low net scores will also receive cash prizes, while fourth to sixth places will take home golf bags. Also up for grabs is the closest to the pin competition on all par-three holes.

Defending champion Sasaki Oliver is determined to retain his title and remains the golfer to beat within the ranks of the RGA.

On the outside looking in is former RGA Club Championship winner Sonny Flores, new kid on the block Jordan Kosam, and senior of all senior citizens Joe “Chuparium” Wabol.

Also a force to be reckoned with is China-bound Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho, who has long been considered one of the best golfers in the Pacific.

All RGA Ace of the Month winners qualify for the yearend tournament. RGA members seeing action in the tournament are as follows: January’s Joe “Chuparium” Wabol; February’s Ben Duenas; March’s Mario Taitano; April’s Lou Tilipao; May’s Nick Sablan; June’s Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho; July’s Sonny Flores; August’s Norman Tenorio; September’s Reno Celis; October’s Jordan Kosam; November’s John Tagabuel; and December’s Jess Wabol.

Incidentally, Wabol caught the last ride to the Club Championship after winning the final Ace of the Month Tournament last Saturday. Wabol fired a net score of 75 to win the December plum at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
