An open letter to all freedom loving people of the NMI
The holidays are fast approaching; we have just counted our blessings. We have much to be thankful for.
For some of us in our community, young kids did not see “Daddy” around at Thanksgiving and he probably won’t be here to receive and carry the Niño Jesus into their homes on Christmas Day. All because of a war in Iraq that has come to disrupt the lives of families on these small pieces of islands in the Northern Mariana Islands.
But for all of us who do not have to go to Iraq to fight a war, let us be generous. Let us explain to our children the true meaning of giving this year and help assist those in Echo Company who cannot afford to bring their love ones home for Christmas. Let us give, any amount, big or small, to assist defray the cost for airfare from Texas to Saipan and their return to Texas for our over 100 troops from Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
There is no organization presently established. I am starting this on my own so I need volunteers and donors. Please find it in your hearts to give a little of something, maybe cancel the case of beer that you planned for Christmas Day, and give that amount of money so that the children of Echo Company will see Daddy receive and bring into their homes the blessings of Nino Jesus on Christmas Day.
I could be reached at gkilili@gtepacifica.net if you wish to volunteer your time or make a donation. Other names will be announced soon. Time is very, very short so please respond. Any amount will help.
For all freedom loving people, I remain,
Gregorio C. Sablan (Kilili)
Garapan, Saipan
