With efforts to boost travel within the Marianas, the Marianas Visitors Authority recently invited several Guam travel agents to the launch party of the Bisita Marianas campaign held Friday, Nov. 26, at the Pacific Islands Club, Guam.

The Bisita Marianas campaign started on Dec. 1, 2004 and will continue throughout the coming year, ending on Dec. 31, 2005.

On Sept. 4, 2003, Gov. Juan Babauta of the CNMI and Gov. Felix Camacho of Guam adopted a resolution to establish a relationship between the National Tourist Offices of both destinations.

MVA and the Guam Visitors Bureau attested the adoption of the resolution for the establishment of joint efforts in promotion, marketing, and economic development, resulting in the implementation of a marketing plan to promote and stimulate inter-island travel within the Marianas—Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.

With the common bond shared between the CNMI and Guam, the MVA will aggressively encourage travel from Guam to the Northern Marianas—Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

“The campaign name ‘Bisita Marianas,’ which means Visit our Marianas’ is ideal for this type of promotion. We anticipate an increase of visitor traffic from the Guam market to include local and military residents. The launch party was well received by the participating agents, together with the airlines. The MVA will maintain a close working relationship with the agents and airlines for the success of this campaign” said MVA managing director Vicky Benavente.

The Bisita Marianas campaign requires a purchase of an airline ticket showing a two-night stay in the Northern Marianas—Saipan, Tinian, or Rota with a Marianas Value-Pak provided by participating travel agencies who sell the CNMI.

Participating Guam travel agents include PACTOURS, Travellers Unlimited, First Class Travel, Travel Pacificana, and Andersen Leisure. Airlines that provide service to the Marianas are Continental Airlines, Pacific Island Aviation, and Freedom Air.
