Three persons named to State Rehab Council
Gov. Juan N. Babauta recently appointed three individuals to serve as members of the CNMI State Rehabilitation Council.
Current Workforce Investment agency executive director Jesse Stein and Lino Olopai were appointed as first-term members while Public School System special education coordinator Joanne Nicholls was reappointed to serve another term representing required composition of Special Education Providers on the Council.
Each term lasts three-years, with members limited to serve two terms.
“The Lt. Governor and I are aware of the difficult assignments of the SRC, but we are confident that you will consistently devote your time and efforts to represent the interest and protect the welfare of individuals with disabilities in their quest for employment and independence,” Babauta said to Nicholls in a letter confirming her reappointment.
A letter requesting the reappointment of Nicholls was submitted on Nov. 2 by SRC chair William A. Jones.
Stein was appointed to represent the State Workforce Investment Board while Olopai represents individuals with disabilities.
Both will assist the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Babauta administration in efforts with the programs and services for individuals with disabilities who are seeking work.
The appointments do not require the advice and consent of the Senate.
The three individuals are required to file Statement of Financial Interests with the Office of the Public Auditor.
