MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

On Nov. 19-20, representatives from The Nature Conservancy will be coming to Saipan to provide training for community organizations in effective management and to provide tips for financial success. There will also be a chance for community organizations to meet and greet, and form connections and partnerships. The training will be geared primarily toward organizations with environmental interests, but is open to all. This opportunity is funded in part by the Coastal Resources Management Office. More information will follow on the environment page next week.

CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER!

Congratulations to the employees of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. lab, whose hard work over the past year paid off on Friday when officials from the Division of Environmental Quality re-certified the lab. The lab has been unable to carry out its own drinking water quality testing since last year, when certification was revoked. By updating standard operating procedures and undergoing a DEQ audit of its practices, the lab was able to achieve compliance with DEQ regulations, and can now continue testing and monitoring drinking water and source water islandwide. Good job CUC! (Qamar Schuyler)
