Human resource managers are expected to exhibit leadership and be role models for maintaining the highest possible standard of professional conduct and ethics, said Gov. Juan N. Babauta Tuesday as he signed a proclamation declaring November as Human Resource Managers Month.

“We recognize the valuable role played by human resource managers and professionals in the Commonwealth,” he said.

He noted that personnel managers are the liaison between employers and employees and their role is critical, particularly when an organization faces economic challenges.

Among others, he said that human resource managers are responsible for promoting fairness and justice for employees and their organizations.

“Human resource managers must maintain a high level of trust with their employers and employees. They must consider and protect the rights of individuals, promoting honest communication and informed decision-making about employment issues,” he said.

Personnel managers, he said, are also tasked with meeting high standards of professional competence and strengthening their skills on a continuous basis.

Tuesday’s signing ceremony was attended by officers and members of the NMI Society of Human Resource Management, headed by president Shirley Dotts.
