Vegas Night winner takes home a brand new Lancer
A Dandan resident drove home yesterday in a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer, which he won at the Saipan Rotary Club’s Las Vegas Night held on Oct. 23.
Jim Brel, 31, father of four children and employee at Five Star Wholesale, was presented the key to his 2005 Lancer during the weekly Rotary Club meeting at Hyatt Regency Saipan. He got the car immediately afterwards.
Brel said he bought only five tickets, at a total cost of $20, to join the raffle. Adonica Forrester, wife of Rotary member Kim Forrester, sold him the tickets.
“I went to the Las Vegas Night, but I didn’t stay up to the end. I was so surprised when I found out I won,” related Brel, who said the Lancer is a welcome addition to the Hyundai Sonata he is currently driving.
Other major Las Vegas Night winners are Dr. Jack Hardy, who received $2,500; Judy Mosley and Robert Hunter, who got $1,000 each; and Liang Man An, who won $500.
Held at the Dai-Ichi Hotel, the event was one of the Saipan Rotary Club’s main fundraisers for the year.
Club president Harry Blalock said over $10,000 was raised during the successful event. Proceeds of the fundraiser will be used to fund various projects, including tree planting, scholarships for students, and the man’amko Thanksgiving lunch.
