Ghasias Brothers lambaste Local Boys in season finale
The gargantuan Ghasias Brothers returned to the Marianas High School Gymnasium to close out the week and the regular season of the World Organized Rocball Interscholastic and Community League last Friday, and they did so in style.
Led by “Bombastic” Ben Pelisamen, the brothers Ghasias laid a whoopin’ upon the unsuspecting youngsters from MHS as they double-skunked the Local Boys 65-9 in four sets on the blue court.
Everything came easy for the Ghasias Brothers in the first set, as the Local Boys managed only 3 points to the Ghasias Brothers’ 16. It was like watching someone hunting a cow—they didn’t have a chance.
Things only got worse for Local Boys in the second set. The Ghasias Brothers piled on point after point until there were no more points for Jim Feger to award. In a matter of minutes, the Brothers skunked their opponents 17-0.
For a more complete view of the dominance, the Ghasias Brothers were leading 33-3 heading into the third set. The Local Boys fought back in the third by scoring their highest point total in the match, but 6 points weren’t enough to topple the 16 of the Ghasias Brothers.
It was all Ghasias Brothers in the first three sets, and the fourth and final set was no different. Already ahead 49-9, the brothers delivered another skunk on the students, 16-0, in the final set of the season.
With the win, the Ghasias Brothers completed the season with an untarnished 6-0 record, and await the survivor of the best-of-three playoff in the championship.
Overall, the Local Boys scored only one kee, compared to 10 aces, 11 kees, and three goals by the Brothers.
The Ghasias Brothers also had the game’s standout, as Pelisamen was named the heavy hitter, scoring two aces and eight kees to lead his team in the victory with 20 points.
The action of Rocball continues this Thursday, Oct. 28, at MHS court, when the second place Shag and the MHS All-Star team face off in the first game of a best-of-two playoff. All of the aces, xunks, kees, and goals return under the supervision of Feger at 12:30pm.
