Sometimes blessings come in disguise, and that’s exactly what happened last week when the scheduled baseball games for the fall edition of the Saipan Major League were scrubbed due to poor weather.

As a result, hardball fans from across the island will have the benefit of enjoying a double-header today and tomorrow.

Beginning at 10am, the North Stars and the Pirates will get the weekend underway. Their match up will be followed by the contest between Kautz Glass Glazers and the defending champion Hustlers at 2pm.

On most weekends that would be considered pretty good, but this time out the teams will run back onto the field on Sunday as well. At 10am, the North Stars return to Francisco M. Palacios baseball field to take on the Hustlers, and at 2pm, the Kautz Glass Glazers meet up with the Pirates to close out the two-day play-a-thon.

In a related story, the there will be a meeting next Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the conference room at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium for the prospective members of the CNMI All-Star baseball team for the SPG Mini-Games.

According to Tony Rogolifoi, organizing officials and the team will discuss fund raising ideas for the $10,000 payment that must be made to NMASA no later than Thursday, Dec. 2. The names of the players will not be released, but Rogolifoi will individually contact the hardballers to inform them that they have made the team.
