The conquering heroes of Rocball returned to the Marianas High School Gymnasium yesterday to finish off their regular season schedule in the World Organized Rocball Interscholastic and Community League by blasting Bwii Bwii.

Led by Freddy Pelisamen, the Ghasias Brothers straight molly-whopped the Bwii Bwii 59-35 in four sets on the blue court, but curiously it was the perfect team that was on the losing end early.

The killer Bwiis were thinking upset in the first set, as they came out buzzing to take the 16-14 advantage over the Brothers. The lead was short-lived for Bwii Bwii as Ghasias Brothers opened up a can to the tune of an 18-2 beat down to even up the set count at one apiece.

Heading into the third set, the Ghasias Brothers were holding onto a 32-18 lead, but Bwii Bwii bounced back to take the lead in the set race, 2-1 via 16-11 win. While they had the lead in sets, the killer Bwiis were still trailing in the point race by nine, 43-34. They needed a 10-point margin of victory in the fourth and final set to complete the upset.

The gods of rocball were not shining the Bwii Bwii, and no upset was rendered as the Ghasias Brothers laid another smack down on the students, 16-1, in the final set of the season.

With the win, the Ghasias Brothers improved their record to an untarnished 5-0, and unless the 0-5 Local Boys can pull off as upset, they are assured of a first place finish.

Overall, Bwii Bwii scored a goal, tallied three aces, three kees and three xunks compared to a monster 10 aces, 10 kees, and two goals by the Brothers.

The Ghasias Brothers also had the game’s standout, as “Captain Kees” Pelisamen was named the heavy hitter, scoring two aces and four kees to lead his team in the victory with 12 points.

The action of Rocball continues this afternoon at MHS court, when the Ghasias takes on the Local Boys in the season finale. All of the aces, xunks, kees and goals return under the supervision of the game’s creator Jim Feger at 12:30pm.
