Brown named on Who’s Who in America list
CNMI attorney general Pamela Brown was notified yesterday that she has been selected for inclusion on the Marquis’ list of Who’s Who in America. This is a prestigious, annually published list of the most influential people in America.
According to the letter from Marquis, Brown was selected because she represents integrity as well as accomplishment.
Brown received her BA in Cultural Anthropology at University of Washington in Seattle, where she graduated cum laude. After receiving her JD with honors in 1988, Brown became the Technical Director for a news station in Seattle. She then joined the Washington State Attorney General’s Office as an Assistant Attorney General with the Consumer Protection Division.
Next, Brown worked as a criminal defense attorney before moving to the CNMI in 1989 to work for the prosecution side at the CNMI Attorney General’s Office. Brown then worked as Chief Senate Legal Counsel from 1990 to 1994 before going into private practice as a partner at the Long & Brown law firm.
In 1998, Ms. Brown returned to public interest work as the Federal Ombudsman. Subsequently, she worked briefly for a private law firm before taking on the job of being legal counsel to Gov. Juan N. Babauta. In 2003, Brown was appointed attorney general of the Northern Mariana Islands. Almost a year later, she continues in this role as the Commonwealth’s highest law enforcement officer dedicated to serving the public interest. (PR)
