About 16 government employees are currently undergoing a report writing training using the JD Edwards World Writer, a report writing tool used to extract information from AS 400 computers.

Tony S. Reyes of TSR Computer and Consulting Services, who heads the two-day seminar, said the training enables participants to run reports, do analysis and reconciliation of accounts, ranging from financial and payroll, to purchasing, among others.

“This is really important, especially for budget preparations as managers can report on the spending of their respective departments, as well as track expenditures for federal grants and use it as basis for the next year’s budget preparations,” he said.

The training session also includes training of Electronic Data Processing staff to enable them to conduct future trainings. Undergoing the training are Norbert Diaz and Marie Muna.

The training, which Reyes said is just one of many others that would be held in the near future, was initiated by Finance Secretary Fermin Atalig to “empower employees with [the] tool so they can be more productive.”

Reyes said that many departments within the Commonwealth government use the JDE World Writer. Others using the tool are Guam, Hawaii, and Washington D.C. (Shan Seman)
