The Marianas Visitors Authority yesterday announced its new campaign that aims to encourage inter-island travel between Guam and the Northern Marianas.

The Bisita Marianas 2005, a joint promotional effort by MVA and its Guam counterpart, the Guam Visitors Bureau, will kick off on Dec. 1, 2004 and will end through the end of December next year.

Advertisements regarding the campaign will run through several media resources on Guam throughout the 13-month campaign.

Bisita Marianas will emphasize the Marianas Value-Pak, which includes a two-night stay package on Saipan, Tinian, or Rota provided by participating travel agencies that sell the CNMI through Continental Connection, Pacific Island Aviation, and Freedom Air on Guam.

“Our goal is to motivate demand for travel to the CNMI from our neighbors on Guam,” said MVA managing director Vicky Benavente. “The MVA, together with its members, will provide value to visiting Guam residents and military personnel through promotional coupons and discounted deals.”

On Sept. 4, 2003, Gov. Juan N. Babauta and Guam Gov. Felix Camacho adopted a resolution to establish a relationship between MVA and GVB to promote the Mariana Islands as a regional destination for Japanese tourists.

The resolution was a result of meetings wherein MVA and GVB agreed to: (1) formalize a cooperative working relationship; (2) share research data; and (3) formulate a list of joint promotions and marketing programs in promoting the Marianas.

“Each entity recognizes the importance of joint efforts and cooperation between [GVB and MVA] in areas of common interest in promotion and development of products and attractions in the Mariana Islands,” a portion of the resolution read. “The [GVB and MVA] will maintain open communication for further marketing promotional efforts in all markets that will benefit the region.”
