I watched a portion of the debate. It may be a harbinger of some important issues locally over the coming months.”
—Lawyer Robert Torres, who refused to give a rating of either Bush or Kerry’s performance. “Lawyers don’t rate politicians.”

“Bush won. He started to become more liberal in the debate. He’s more natural, more human, where Kerry was more wooden, dull, not as animated as Bush. Bush, though had some awkward moments. Strange laugh, perhaps, a cowboy laugh. I only watched a portion of it. It seems Bush had it. He seems genuine. He’s being himself. (I also agreed with him on not imposing new taxes or keeping low taxes. Kerry seems to favor some kind of a government health care).
Charles Reyes Jr., House leadership spokesman

“There’s some improvement with President Bush’s performance compared to the previous debates. He did better in the second debate than the first debate. In yesterday’s debate, he’s excellent. I should warn you, though, that I’m biased being a Republican myself. I’m a republican at heart in a democratic system (under a covenant with the U.S).
—Rep. Ray Tebuteb, minority bloc designated spokesman
