My name is Daniel Martinez. On Oct. 7, 2004, at the Hyatt Hotel exam room for TSA Phase II screeners, I was not given a 5 pt. Veteran’s Preference, even though I am a Vietnam-era veteran.

Giving a 5 pt. Veteran’s Preference at the end of phase III or IV is not beneficial to the veteran candidate, as he/she may have failed the Phase II federal exam. No other federal agency does this after the fact! As I understand, no Veteran’s Preference is given on the Phase II Screeners exam. Why not?

All other government agencies (Post Office, Department of Defense, Dependent Schools [DODDS], PSS-CNMI) all give the 5 pt. preference on ANY federal government exam. Why not TSA?

Not giving the 5 pt. Preference on any government exam is highly irregular and unfair to all returning veterans (including current Iraqi combat veterans). Thank you for investigating this important matter. You can contact me at the following:
