Test to enter US Army set

The United States Army will hold two Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery—ASVAB—tests this month as part of recruiting interested individuals to the armed forces.

According to U.S. Army recruiter SFC. Albert Abadam, the first test will be conducted on Oct. 22 at 4pm while another will be conducted the following day beginning at 8am. Both will be held at the U.S. Army Reserve Center on Puerto Rico.

Interested individuals between the ages of 17 and 34 years are urged to take the test. Those eligible must be citizens of the U.S., Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, or is a permanent resident. A photo identification card is required prior to the tests.

Last month, the Army Reserve successfully recruited 18 locals to its enlistment. The recruits were sworn in on Sept. 10 at the House of Representatives Chamber on Capitol Hill in front of local leaders, parents, and supporters.

Approximately 50 to 75 people from Saipan join the Army every year.
