Inter-Government Basketball League on the way
As the Rotary cagers are nearing the completion of their season, the public servants are dusting off their high-tops, as the 2004 Inter-Government Men’s Basketball League is just a couple of weeks away.
According to league coordinator Joey Dela Cruz, teams from around the island will begin their three-month quest to unseat the defending champion squad from Northern Marianas College at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 22, at 6pm.
Before any of the teams will be permitted to lace up their kicks and take the court they will have to submit their rosters, entry fees, and completed waiver forms to the league officials at the Ada Gym conference room by Friday, Oct. 15, at 10am.
So far, eight teams are confirmed, and Dela Cruz said that he is expecting roughly 12 teams overall. Last year, there were 16 teams vying for the top spot, so chances are good that the competition will be fierce.
Games will be played on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at 6pm and 8pm. The entry fee for the league is $375, and all players must play for their specific department or division. If that team has already filled the maximum 15-man roster, players are free to get in where they fit in.
