Disaster Recovery Centers to close for Columbus Day
The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Commonwealth government said that the Disaster Recovery Centers on Saipan, Tinian and Rota will be closed on Monday, Oct. 11, in observance of Columbus Day.
Although the centers will be closed for the federal holiday, victims of Supertyphoon Chaba can still call the FEMA teleregistration number for assistance seven days a week.
The centers will be open for normal operating hours beginning Tuesday, Oct. 12, and will continue to operate from 8am to 6pm weekdays. The Disaster Recovery Centers located on the islands of Tinian and Rota will be open from 8am to 12pm on Saturdays, starting Oct. 9. The Saipan Disaster Recovery Center will continue to operate from 12pm to 4pm on Saturdays. All centers will be closed on Sundays.
The centers will continue to be staffed with representatives of federal and Commonwealth agencies who will provide information, give status reports and answer questions about the assistance available to individuals, families and businesses who suffered damages from Chaba.
If they haven’t done so yet, disaster victims are urged to start the application process by calling toll-free, 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362). Those with hearing or speech impairments may call TTY 1-800-462-7585 to apply.”
