Just a comment on the CNMI contingent to the Department of the Interior’s LA Investment Conference. Of all the contingents from around the territories, the CNMI stood out as the most prepared, colorful and enjoyable exhibition and contingent. I sat and listened to the Chamber of Commerce president, business leaders, government officials and exhibitors and was very impressed by the unity and preparedness of the group. They put forward benefits of partnerships with local businesses that will assure that the local CNMI economy will reap the economic benefits. In this global marketplace, our small islands must “go fishing” if we are to succeed and only then will the big guys take notice of our islands and bring investment and opportunity for our people. We cannot wait for opportunity to come to us but we must chase after it or we will definitely be left behind. Congratulations to Governor Babauta and the entire group and the CNMI should look forward to a bright future with the excitement that was generated by your representatives.
