As a result of a meeting held by the CNMI Billiards League this past Wednesday, a new “Open” division will kick off this week designed to accommodate the increase of talented players frequenting the green felt tables of Saipan.

Beginning this Thursday, Oct. 7, at 8pm, players of every skill level are welcome to rack ‘em in the new division at the Corner Pocket, USS Peleliu, Da Place, and Club Taboo in both singles and doubles competitions that feature a double-elimination format.

League officials recognized a need for the new division after analyzing statistics from previous leagues, re-assessing the skill levels of players, and finding an increase in the number of the “A” division players in the area.

The CNMI Billiards League will also be hosting the regular “B” division league for novice and amateur players on Wednesday nights, but they are looking for players of the upper echelon to come out on Thursdays.

The entry fee for the league is $35, and all of the money collected will go toward an assortment of trophies and prizes.

To register for the league, stop by the Corner Pocket, USS Peleliu, Da Place, or Club Taboo or contact Fred Prinz by calling 287-5005.
