It was a week of crucial games and teams rising up to the occasion.
In the ongoing 2004 UFO-San Miguel Cup, Cabalen-RP Construction survived to fight another day after outlasting FASA-PABA-CNC Inc. in overtime last Sept. 25. The next day, it was the turn of defending champion Visminda-Country House, which nosed out SIP-Verizon.
Inter-Restaurant Basketball League action had pennant winners Capricciosa taking its own sweet time before routing Jollibee Thursday morning. The Rotary league is also down to its homestretch with league-leader Sixers I only a win away from completing an unprecedented sweep.
The Commonwealth Football League, meanwhile, had the Miller Lite Barbarians rebounding from its opening day loss to Shell Cheifs by shutting out Verizon Nitro.
In bowling, the CNMI sent two teams to compete in the 18th Asian Intercity Bowling Championships in Shah Alam, Malaysia, with mixed results.
Last week also saw the 4th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball Tournament get served up at the Pacific Islands Club, Rocball action continue at the Marianas High School, and the 2004 Oceania Open and 18-and-under qualifiers for track and field concluded at the Oleai Sports Complex.
