SSHS National Honor Society inducts 28new members
On Sept. 24, 2004, 28 students from Saipan Southern High School were inducted to the National Honor Society member roll in a ceremony held at the Pacific Islands Club.
Members were selected by a Faculty Council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
The students inducted were Cristalyn Acera, Kristal Ann Babauta, Travis Calvo, Anthony Castro, Janice Anne Castro, Jacqueline Cepeda, Mathew Cruz, Ray Duenas, Mark Ecal, Karen Echon, Ferleen Esmundo, Adrian Flores, Kayelani Flores, Marilou Gariguez, Roque Indalecio, Madelline Jacob, Hershel Shanne Joseph, Janelle Lizama, Lourdes Mack, Arayanee Maratita, Alaysha Muna, Kimberly Oxales, Elmery Palacios, Doris Parr, Vincent Quitugua, Dong Hwi Shim, Vincent John Tudela, and Elsa Yoshida.
National Honor Society members are chosen for showing academic excellence and are expected to continue their exemplary contribution to the school and community.
The Saipan Southern High School Chapter was established in 2002 with 37 members. Currently, there are 43 members for school year 2004-2005.
The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in more than 60 percent of the nation’s high schools and, since 1921, millions of students have been selected for membership. (PR)
