Sideout tattoos were doled out free of charge by Dolphins, Bananas, and Lambleezies Tuesday night, as the 6th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League kicked off on the sand courts behind the Pacific Islands Club.

The Dolphins of Marianas High School, the Bananas, Sleezy Lambleezies, and Tell Them Tom Braider Sent You were able to edge the competition while the five remaining teams anxiously awaited the start of their season tonight.

The night’s first three-set showdown featured the Dolphins schooling Esemuoel, winning two of the three sets. The under-aged overachievers treated Esemuoel like clueless freshmen in the first set, beating them 11-5, only to have the tables turned on them in the second. The Dolphins took the loss in stride and returned to wallop their opponents 11-8 in the third to win their first game. Their next assignment is against the Bill Bratzski’s tonight at 6pm, while Esemuoel next faces Flush It! on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 7pm.

The second pair of teams that went hand-to-hand in the sand was Bananas and the Clam Smackers. The Bananas gave the Clams a smack of their own in the first set 11-1 before getting peeled in the second 11-5. The Bananas were able to hang around though, winning the final set 11-6 to keep pace with the Dolphins.

Their next match-up is with Bend It Like Megan tonight, at 9pm, while the Clam Smackers hit the sand tonight in the 7pm match with Flush It!

The third match up was between Shoot the Winkle and the Sleezy Lambleezies, and it belonged to the SL Express. The Lambleezies lambasted the Winkles in a three-set sweep by a total combined score of 33-12. There was no contest, but there was plenty of practice for an SL Express team that looks to be one of the heavies this season.

The Sleezy Lambleezies will next matchup with the Dragon Flares tonight at 8pm, while Shoot the Winkle will see its next action on Thursday, Oct. 7, against Dolphins at 6pm.

In the final match of the night, Tell Them Tom Braider Sent You met up with the Bill Bratzski’s, and despite a second set setback, the Tom’s beat the Bill’s two sets to one.

TTTBSY managed to outplay the BB’s in the first set to take the win 11-8, but the BB’s flip-flopped the score Kerry-style in the second to even the game at a set apiece.

In the third and final set, everything went the way of the Tom Braider’s, as they walked off the sand victorious, 11-5.

Tell Them Tom Braider Sent You remains idle until they return to the courts on Tuesday, Oct. 7, against the much anticipated super-squad of Machiganai!, while the Bill Bratzski’s face the Dolphins tonight at 6pm.

Games are played Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm through the end of the season on Thursday, June 13.
