After a couple of weeks of inactivity, sports made a big comeback last week with basketball, softball, and rocball dotting the calendar.

Last Monday, the 2004 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League returned to action with its regular double-header at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The 18-and-under tournament was forced to take a vacation after its venue was used as an evacuation shelter for families displaced by typhoons a month ago.

Saipan Softball Association also played games the entire week at the Oleai Sport Complex after it got started again Sept. 10.

Rocball also debuted last Wednesday at the Marianas High School after the islands’ indigenous sport kicked off its Interscholastic and Community League.

In pool, Team Destroyer took first palce in the CNMI Billiard League summer season. Da X Terminators finished second, while No Mercy settled for third.

But the biggest news of all was the conclusion of the 20th Annual Saipan International Fishing Tournament last Sunday, which saw the crew of Charlie Cat take home the top prize in the marlin category.
