CHACHA PTSA MEETING RESET
This is to inform all parents, guardians, and students of the ChaCha Oceanview Junior High School that the scheduled Parents Teachers Students Association meeting last Friday was postponed. It is rescheduled for Sept. 9, 2004. For questions or concerns call the school at 664-4100, 664-4103, or 664-4106.
UPCOMING EVENTS AT KOBLERVILLE ELEMENTARY
Acting principal Eric DLG. Evangelista of Koblerville Elementary School would like to inform the community of upcoming events at Koblerville Elementary.
1. PTSA Meeting to be held Sept. 8, 6pm, in the cafeteria.
2. Open House to be held Sept. 10, at KES from 2:45pm to 4:30pm. All parents are encouraged to come.
3. Mid-term progress reports will be distributed on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004.
PSS SPED PROGRAM MEETING SET
The Public School System’s Special Education Program will be conducting a Special Education State Advisory Panel meeting on Sept. 9, 11am-3pm, at the Pacific Gardenia.
The meeting is open to the public. The agenda will be disclosed at the meeting.
NMI DELEGATES TO ‘RP INVASION’ SEEK HELP
The “Philippine Invasion” will be held in Manila, the Philippines from Sept. 9 through 12, hosted by Every Nation Ministries. Missionaries and Christian delegates from around the world, including members of Life in the Son Christian Fellowship-Saipan, will be attending the convention.
SEPTEMBER EVENTS AT GES
Cultural Heritage Month ends with Cultural Day at the Garapan Elementary School. If parents would like to prepare booths or presentations, call GES at 664-3955.
* Sept. 6, 2004-there will be no classes due to Labor Day;
* Sept. 7, 2004, is Mid Progress Report Day;
* Sept. 10, 2004, is the deadline for Free Meal Applications;
* Sept. 10, 2004-GES will be having a special flag ceremony in remembrance of 9/11. “We will wear patriotic colors.”
* Sept. 15, 2004 is Pizza Hut Night. Proceeds will help fund this year’s handbook for parents/students.
* The week of Sept. 20, 2004 will be school picture week.
* Sept. 30, 2004 is PTA Night at 6pm in the school cafeteria.
More information regarding these activities will be disseminated as the month progresses, the school said in a statement.
The school also extended its gratitude to 99 Cent Supermarket, which donated rakes to teachers for the campus clean up after Supertyphoon Chaba, and to the Saipan Mayor’s Office for property disposing of debris from the typhoon.
WORKSHOP ON FOR YOUNG GIRLS
The House of Manhoben at Chalan Kanoa is holding a Workshop called “Young Female Empowerment” for girls who are 12 to 18 years old.
Topics include building self-esteem and women in leadership. The event will include many fun cooperative activities that will be offered.
The Workshop will be at the Pacific Islands Club on Sept. 25, from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
Registration for the workshop is concurrent with the registration for Girls Volleyball, Girls Basketball and Girls Canoeing/Paddling at the House of Manhoben Center, from 2:30pm to 5:30pm.
“Let’s give our young girls a chance. The above events are for girls only,” a House of Manhoben statement said.
Parents are encouraged to register their daughters. Space is limited, therefore, it will be on a first come-first served basis.
E-FORM FOR SHEFA SCHOLARSHIP NOW AVAILABLE
Applications for Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance are now available online and can be downloaded by accessing its website: www.saipanshefa.com.
This option is especially helpful for those students who are currently abroad, and qualified to avail of this assistance.
The scholarship, which is under the Municipality of Saipan, Office of the Mayor, aims to provide supplementary financial assistance pursuant to Saipan Local Law 13-21, to qualified residents of Saipan (inclusive of the Northern Islands) in pursuing postsecondary education on Saipan or abroad.
Under the rules, ongoing applicants need to submit official sealed transcript, valid Saipan municipal ID No., and official class registration. New applicants are asked to submit acceptance letter into a higher education institution, proof of one year residency on Saipan, most recent official sealed transcript, and valid Saipan ID. number.
Completed application and supporting documents must be submitted to SHEFA at the Mayor’s Office.
