POINT BREAK SERIES CHALLENGE AT PIC

Four rounds down and one to go in the Point Break Series Challenge at the Pacific Islands Club, and no matter how much water flows through the park, the competition continues to heat up. If you haven’t yet been down to try the Flow Rider at the PIC, you can still compete on September 11.

There are singles, doubles and big trick competitions throughout the tri-month series that is sponsored in part by Coca Cola. Men and women will be grouped into age divisions 12-and-under, 13-17, 18-34, and 35-and-over, and there are still some openings available.

To be a part of all of the action, venture down PIC information counter and pick up an entry form. It’s only $10 to enter one any one of the events, but $30 will grant you access to all five surf-off’s, special discounts, and PIC facility privileges.

For more information, please contact Nan Intharaluk, Evan Hunsberger, Curtis Wilson, or Cole Pritchard by calling 235-6231 extension 5147 or 5148.

ROCBALL RETURNS TO ACTION

The World Organized Rocball Interscholastic and Community League is currently in its practice round and would kick off its 2004 regular season sometime in the third week of this month.

All games will be held at the Marianas High School Gymnasium or Green Court.

No entrance fee is required and the league is open to anyone in the community.

Interested teams are urged to contact James Feger at 664-3810 or 288-8722.

NMITFF SCHOOLS FALL RELAY ON SEPT. 18

The Northern Marianas Track and Field Federation disclosed that its first All Schools Fall Island Relay has been pushed back and is rescheduled to unfold on Sept. 18 to give schools sufficient time to prepare for the event.

It was originally scheduled to take place last Saturday, Aug. 28.
Schools may form teams for both division in the 9-and-under, 11-and-under-14-and-under, and 18-and-under age groups.

Teams of about five students will begin their push to reign supreme at the American Memorial Park. The number of students per team, however, has yet to be confirmed.

Each member will run a mile at a time, switching off with another team member when the said distance has been completed.

Teams will continue switching off until its final member completes the final leg of the race at the newly built Oleai Sports Complex built track and field facility.

Each team is required to have a designated vehicle that would follow the team from the starting point to the track oval. The vehicle would also serve to pick up and drop runners at switch-off points throughout the race.

For more information, contact board members Kurt Barnes at 234-5498 ext. 1348 or Elias Rangamar at 664-2503.
