With the community busy cleaning up after Typhoon Chaba, the Division of Environmental Quality is warning people not to dump their trash illegally or they will be issued citations.

In a statement, the agency reminded people that the designated disposal sites and facilities for vegetative typhoon debris or household waste is the Department of Public Works’ Lower Base Refuse Transfer Station and the Marpi landfill site.

“There are absolutely no other public designated disposal sites permitted by the DEQ or DPW for dumping green waste and/or household waste,” the agency said in a statement.

DEQ said that its Littering Control Enforcement Officers will be conducting routine surveillance of illegal dumpsites and will issue Litter Citations to persons illegally dumping on unauthorized areas.

“If you need additional information concerning this matter, contact DEQ at 664-8500.
