MRA: Races are on hold
The Marianas Racing Association has announced that it will be shelving the race plans that were made for August, but according to their president Steve Sablan, they will be back on track soon.
In a posting on the MRA website, all of the club members were informed that the monthly race for August has been postponed due to an insurance issue.
The posting read, “We are working on getting our insurance renewed and until such time, there will be no race until September.”
With only a couple of days remaining until the end of the month, it is still unclear whether or not there will be a race next month, but Sablan remains optimistic.
“We hope to have a race next month, and we will announce when it will be.”
Currently the MRA is looking for a new company to insure events at the track in Marpi. Sablan said that AON Insurance covered the club through the end of their annual race last month, but that the company was no longer “around” to do so.
In the meantime, riders can still take their bikes down to Cowtown, but at their own risk.
“We can ride at the track, but we can’t host any races. If we do, then we will attract a crowd, and that’s what the insurance was for in the first place,” said Sablan.
While they are looking for the new insurer, the MRA has not cancelled plans to participate in this year’s Vistia Luta, in Rota. The annual race coincides with the San Francisco De Borja Festival, and the riders always enjoy the trip.
