Aqua Resort has new F&B manager
Challenging times are ahead for Aqua Resort Club’s new food and beverage manager, with the hotel undergoing a management transition and planning a huge renovation project.
Ramoncito Cabrera joined Aqua Resort in July 2004. He replaced former F&B manager Pol Urcia, who has gone back to his home in the Philippines to manage his business. Cabrera, however, is not new to the island, having worked as assistant F&B manager with the Hyatt Regency Saipan from September 1988 to August 1993.
“I’m really excited about coming back, and joining a very good team at Aqua Resort. Here, I work with hard-working people who make my job a lot easier. I also like the management’s open-door policy toward the staff. We’re like a small family,” he said.
“I think this is a very good time to join Aqua Resort because the next six months are going to be challenging, with all the renovation work that we’re planning to do,” he added.
The planned construction work comes on the heels of Aqua Resort Club’s acquisition by Ken Corp. of Tokyo.
Cabrera said he is also looking forward to becoming a part again of the Saipan community. “Pol [Urcia] definitely left big shoes to fill in terms of the relationship he built with the community, but I’m working on it.”
The Saipan Rotary Club had him as a guest speaker during the group’s weekly meeting at the Hyatt on Tuesday noon.
Cabrera served for eight years as resident manager of the Manila Southwoods Golf & Country Club in Cavite, the Philippines, before he joined Aqua Resort. Before that, he managed a 96-room resort and beach hotel, also in Cavite, for two years.
He also acquired over 10 years of hotel and restaurant management experience at the Hyatt, including the five years he has worked on Saipan.
