Meeting set for 25-and-Under cage league
The Basketball Association of the Northern Marianas Islands 25-and-under Basketball League will have a meeting this Thursday, August 19, at 5:30pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
League coordinator Abner Venus said the agenda for the meeting includes league format, cost of entrance fee, and submission of team rosters.
Players eligible to see action in the league are those whose 26th birthday does not predate the opening of the season. Team rosters should be submitted as soon as possible and should include the participants’ proof of age.
Teams may be required to pay an entrance of $900, however, Venus said that amount has yet to be confirmed. He, however, added that the $900 fee would include uniforms for all teams.

Mandatory umpires meeting
Attention all baseball umpires, if you are interested on rendering your services to the SML Fall League, you are required to attend certification meetings in the conference room at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium beginning Monday, August 23 through Friday, August 27 from 6:pm until 7pm. Whether already certified or not, all umpires must attend to be a part of the autumn baseball. Volleyball players wanted
There will be a meeting on Monday, August 23 at 6:30pm in the Napu Room at Pacific Islands Club to establish the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association. Any person that has played or would like to play volleyball indoor or outdoor in the CNMI should attend.
Saipan to host baseball game with USS Vincennes
Attention all baseball players, Saipan needs you to volunteer your cleats, bats, and gloves for service in a battle against the service. In less than two weeks, Saipan will be fielding a baseball team to participate in a pair of games against the USS Vincennes at the Francisco M. Palacios baseball field when they pull into port, and anyone interested is invited to participate.
On Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21, representatives from Saipan and the U.S. Navy will get together to enjoy a couple of rounds of hardball on the diamond of diamonds in the Northern Marianas.
The manager of the Saipan Major League champion Brewers, Tony Rogolifoi will be putting together a team made up of players who express their interest in sinking the Navy in the goodwill games, so players should act fast.
First pitch will be thrown at 6:30pm, and with all of the talented players on island, it should definitely be an enjoyable time for anyone who enjoys baseball and barbeque.

Point Break Series Challenge at PIC
Two rounds down and three to go in the Point Break Series Challenge at the Pacific Islands Club, and no matter how much water flows through the park, the competition continues to heat up. If you haven’t yet been down to try the Flow Rider at the PIC, you can still compete today, August 28, and September 11.
There are singles, doubles and big trick competitions throughout the tri-month series that is sponsored in part by Coca Cola. Men and women will be grouped into age divisions 12-and-under, 13-17, 18-34, and 35-and-over, and there are still some openings available.
To be a part of all of the action, venture down PIC information counter and pick up an entry form. It’s only $10 to enter one any one of the events, but $30 will grant you access to all five surf-off’s, special discounts, and PIC facility privileges.

SIS 5K Fun Run/Walk set
The Saipan International School recently announced that it would host a fun run/walk this month.
Dubbed the SIS 5K Fun Run/Walk, the event is scheduled to unfold during the early morning hours of August 21 at Banzai Cliff.
Nine divisions have been set up for various age groups, including six-and-under, ages 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50-and-up. A shorter course has been designed for participants in the six-and-under category.
Participants aiming to conquer the course would begin huffing and puffing at the Banzai Cliff, and will make their way down towards the Cowtown-Marpi Landfill area.
T-shirts will also be presented to the first 120 finishers.
On site registration begins at 6am, however, participants may register early at SIS. A fee of $10 is required for each participant prior to the start of the event. Also, all participants are eligible for raffle prizes. The drawing would be held shortly after the run/walk.

NMITFF to hold three races
The NMITFF announced that its Fall Island Relay would be held on August 28.
The event features three divisions-Elementary, Junior High, and High School-and is open to students from both public and private schools.
Also, the All Schools Preliminary Cross Country Trials will be held on September 18 while the next monthly NMITFF track meet will be held on September 25. The meet also serves as the Oceania Open and Under 18 trials.
