MINORS ASSAULT AND ATTEMPT TO ROB

Police are currently investigating an incident involving three male juveniles who allegedly assaulted three people and tried to rob one of them as well.

Police report indicated that last Saturday night, a male and his two female friends were walking north in Afetnas by Winners Corp. when the minors approached and assaulted them.

In the report, Department of Public Safety acting public information officer Captain Pete C. Muna said that according to the male victim, the suspects started a fight. One of the suspects, who had a stick on hand, started hitting the three while another grabbed one of the female’s purse and tried to pull it away.

“The victims [fought] back and at the same time yelled for help,” Muna said. “The victims finally managed to run away from the suspects.”

The victims suffered moderate injuries, including pain on the head and bruises.

ASSAULT VICTIM SUSTAINS FRACTURED SKULL

The man who was severely hurt after a fight last Friday at the Dai-Ichi Hotel parking lot sustained a fractured skull on the right side of his head, according to a police report released Monday.

The report said the victim, 32-year-old Luciano Silvestre Ortiz, is paralyzed on the left side of his body.

According to the report, the victim had a big lump on the right side of his head and had no “sensation” on the left side of his body, prompting a CAT scan.

Department of Public safety acting public information officer Captain Pete C. Muna said a doctor at the Commonwealth Health Center determined that the injury to Ortiz’s head was caused by a blunt object. Unconfirmed reports had it that the suspect used a bat in attacking the victim but the suspect had denied this, saying he used his bare hands.

Muna said a female witness indicated that the victim first approached her as she was about to walk to her car in the parking lot.

“The victim asked her who is her boyfriend was and she replied that she didn’t have anyone,” he said. “The witness went to her car and the victim followed her.”

According to Muna, the witness said the suspect, 38-year-old Edgardo Agno Palma, was already standing by her car when they approached.

“[Ortiz] asked [Palma] if he is the woman’s boyfriend and [Palma] asked the victim what his relationship with the woman was,” Muna said. “During this line of questioning between the suspect and the victim, a fight took place.”
