DEADLINE TODAY FOR AMERICORPS APPLICATIONS

Today is the last day for the submission of application and proof of eligibility requirements for the Public School System’s AmeriCorps program, a federally funded program that is currently recruiting 34 members to participate in the community service and educational program.

AmeriCorps members will provide tutoring and mentoring services to CNMI youths between the ages of 6-17 at various youth centers. Members will assist students during structured youth center activities that may include homework assistance, arts/crafts, sports activities/events, computer trainings, etc.

Members will be awarded a living stipend for 900 hours served; and educational award of $2,362 after successful completion of program; developmental trainings and workshops; and satisfaction of serving the youth and community in the CNMI.

Those who want to participate in the program should be U.S. citizens, at least 17 years old, a high school graduate, and is drug free and possesses a clean police clearance.

SSHS PTA MEETING TOMORROW

To all parents of students attending Saipan Southern High School, we will be having our first Parents-Teachers Association meeting for this school year tomorrow, Aug. 19, at 6:30pm. All parents and community members are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting.

DVAM MEETING ON FRIDAY

HOUSE OF MANHOBEN OPEN FOR REGISTRATION

The House of Manhoben is open for registration in the following sports: Girls’ Volleyball, Girls’ Basketball and Girls’ Canoeing, for ages 10-17 years old.

Registration dates and time are from Monday to Friday, 2:30pm-5:30pm, at the House of Manhoben Center in Chalan Kanoa. Registration will start on Aug. 23 and end on Aug. 31.

Parents are encouraged to come and register their children. Space is limited; registration will be on a “first come- first served bases.”

PSS TO BUY LOCAL FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

Are you a farmer who would like to sell vegetables or fruit to the Public School System? The Nutrition experts at PSS want to buy more local produce for the school cafeterias.

Farmers, here is your chance to meet face to face with the people who decide what foods the school cafeterias will buy.

RENEWAL, ISSUANCE OF MILITARY ID CARDS

The Family Readiness Group of the Echo Company 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry would like to inform all Reservists and families of the following about the issuance and/or renewal of military ID cards on Aug. 17-20 at the Reserve Center in Puerto Rico .

Families of active, Reserve or veteran soldier(s) should get a new or renew their military ID cards at the Reserve Center.
