Foundation and Family Day Walk on Aug. 21

The 3rd Annual Foundation and Family Day Walk of the Saipan Walking Association, Inc. will be held on Aug. 21, Saturday, along Saipan Beach Pathway.
Coordinator and SAIWAI secretary Mario Espeleta said the event would start at 4:30pm from the Chamolinian Cultural Village in Garapan and would have participants walk south towards the Oleai Beach Bar and Grill and back – a distance of 10 kilometers.
He also said that the first 50 walkers would be awarded giveaways and all participants would be treated to an island-style dinner at the Chamolinian Cultural Village.
Like all SAIWAI activities, the International Federation of Popular Sports or IVV will be sanctioning the 3rd Annual Foundation and Family Day Walk.
IVV members will receive credit for joining the event. The IVV has member-walking clubs in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, the CNMI and 29 other European countries.

The two remaining walking events SAIWAI has slated for 2004 are the Heart of the Marianas Fitness Fair Walk on Sept. 25; and the 4th Annual Thanksgiving Day Walk on Nov. 20.
SAIWAI was incorporated as a non-profit corporation on July 27, 2001 and was established to promote public health through non-competitive walking. (Mark Rabago)
