DPS checkpoints set tomorrow and Friday

The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting Occupant Protection and Child Restraint checkpoints tomorrow and Friday.

An Occupant Protection and Child Restraint Checkpoint will occur tomorrow, Aug. 5, along Beach Road Susupe by the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The operation will start at approximately 9am and will end at approximately 10:15am. The next day, Aug. 6, a Sobriety Checkpoint will be set up along Beach Road San Jose by Chars. The operation will start at approximately 5pm and will end at approximately 6:15pm.

The second set up will be on 2W Chalan Laulau by Verizon. It will start at approximately 10pm and will finish at approximately 11:15pm.

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least an hour and 15 minutes on each location. This activity is part of DPS’s efforts to deter and detect and ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, the Traffic Officers will be conducting Highway Criminal Interdiction, Saturation Patrols, Aggressive Driver Interdictions, and Laser activities.
