Gov. Juan N. Babauta yesterday signed two bills into law, including one that allows the next most senior Supreme Court justice to sit as acting chair of the Law Revision Commission in the absence of the Chief Justice.

House Bill 14-145 is now Public Law 14-24, amending a provision of the Commonwealth Code. Babauta said the law would ensure the continuity of the LRC’s administration.

Babauta also signed into law House Bill 14-46, which he considered as important to enhancing boating safety.

Now known as Public Law 14-23, it mandates the inclusion of distress signal flares in the list of required navigational, communications and safety equipment for boating safety. (JR)
