Workshop for farmers and ranchers set

The Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service will conduct a one-day workshop to discuss the possibility of applying for Farmer Rancher and Agricultural Professional and Producer grants.

The session will be administered in NMC room D-1 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm on Monday.

The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education competitive grants program supports agricultural systems that are profitable, environmentally sound and that sustain a high quality of life in rural communities.

The program assist in enhancing the quality of life for farmers, ranchers, and society by satisfying human food and fiber needs, the environmental quality and natural resource based upon the agricultural economy.

Each grant is funded for two years at a maximum of $10,000 per grant with one producer, or $20,000 with three or more producers.

Any farmer or rancher in the Western region-Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, Micronesia and the Northern Mariana Islands, may apply for the grant.
