Brewers and Yankees Game 2 tonight
After almost two weeks worth of waiting, Game 2 of the Saipan Major League Championships between the Miller Lite Brewers and the Northern Yankees gets underway tonight at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.
In Game 1, the Brewers shut down the defending champions in a thrilling 2-0 win that featured quality pitching and defense by both teams. Pitcher Roy Celis performed well for the Brewers, and with all of the time in between the first two games, it is possible that he will get the start.
If the Brewers can manage a victory tonight they will have a firm grasp in the best-of-five finals, but don’t count the Yankees out yet. If SML history means anything, there should be more thrilling games ahead.
The Yankees finished atop the league in the regular season with a record of 9-3, but hot on their pinstripes were the second place Brewers at 8-4. The teams split their series at two games apiece.
Down 1-0 in the finals, players and fans alike will see how the defending champs bounce back in Game 2 tonight. The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 6:30pm at the Palacios field.
