Verizon and Eco Camp toast partnership anew
Verizon has once again successfully partnered with Eco Camp to give children in the Commonwealth a taste of the great outdoors.
For the fifth year in a row, Verizon and Eco Camp have worked together to provide CNMI youth with one of the top summer experiences in Micronesia.
Over 300 youth participated this summer in activities like mountain biking, hiking, tennis, golf, horseback riding, and kayaking. Ten participants, incidentally, came to Eco Camp on scholarship courtesy of Verizon.
“We feel like this is a community based program that really offers a wide range of safe and well run activities for the youth of the CNMI. It also attracts a large number of tourists from Japan and Korea, and that makes it a good attraction for our visitors”, said Verizon marketing manager Russ Quinn.
Verizon has been with Eco Camp since its inception in 2000, and over the years has provided telecommunications support, and scholarship assistance for those in need of assistance. This year counselors also were able to use the new Picture Cell Phones to keep in touch with the parents of the campers.
Located at the Mariana Resort and Spa, Eco Camp is now in its fourth session and runs through Aug. 6. Daily and weekly rates are still available. Sign up at www.ecocamp.mp or call 287-2360.
